This retrospective case-control study, conducted at a tertiary care center, examined Facebook usage amongst pediatric patients diagnosed with DS over the period 2004 to 2021. In this study, 50 patients diagnosed with DS (median age 136 years, 56% male) and 150 controls (median age 127 years, 56% male) were enrolled. A statistically significant difference (p=0.001) was observed in the frequency of standard bronchoscopy between the DS group (8%) and the control group (28%). This study investigated the efficacy of adding sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and/or glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RA) to insulin therapy in reducing weight and improving glycemic control in individuals with type 1 diabetes.
Electronic health records were reviewed retrospectively to evaluate 296 individuals with type 1 diabetes, 12 months post-initial medication prescription. Four treatment groups were studied: a control group (n=80), a group receiving SGLT2i (n=94), a group receiving GLP1-RA (n=82), and a combined therapy group (Combo) containing 40 participants.
